How it works
My design process is tailored to your needs, but will always start with an initial consultation, where I will visit your garden for a first assessment, discuss your requirements, and take photographs. We can also discuss options for a survey. If your site is large and/or complicated, I would recommend you instruct a professional surveyor. However, if the site is relatively straightforward, I can measure and survey it for you.
Once I have an accurate survey, the fun can start. I will compile Mood Boards for your approval, showing you themes, styles, colours and features to get a further idea of exactly what you like and don't like. These can be for the garden as a whole, or separate mood boards for each area or 'garden room'.
I will then draw up the Master Layout Plan. This is a detailed, scale drawing - similar to an architect's plan - that can be given to your chosen landscape contractor to work from, and will include specifications for the hard landscaping and any other features your garden includes.
I can also provide you with Planting Plans. Once we know where the borders will be and what size they are, I'll create detailed planting plans, drawn to scale and clearly labelled to show exactly what plant goes where.
In some cases, this is the extent of my involvement. However, I am also happy to advise on maintenance schedules, and I can help you find a contractor/builder to create your garden, and do on-site visits during its construction. I work closely with local award-winning landscaping company Westend Landscapes, which builds the majority of my projects, or you are free to find your own landscaper if you prefer.
If required, I will order your plants, and return to your garden when it's ready for planting and the plants are delivered. Depending on the scale of the project, I am also happy to get my hands dirty and plant for you, or for larger jobs, I can help you find a local contractor who can get involved at this stage.
